Thule [Colorno, 2021]

Working with my camera allows me to know people in a deeper way and I absolutely love this aspect of photography. Also, sometimes I discover that I really like the person who is posing in front of me, as shown in the photos below! I have known Thule over a lifetime: she is just one year younger than I am and we went to the same high school in Parma. This portrait session was a mutual occasion to get to know each other better and I have the feeling it created a much deeper bond in our friendship.

Thule is exactly how you see her: she is a steadfast and loyal person, and also an elegant woman (an hardcore adept in fashion & jewelry!!) with a truthful soul. She is honest, down-to-earth and reliable.

The whole shooting experience was successful beginning with the location’s choice (well played, Thule!!) the beautiful Reggia di Colorno, to the weather and the light (we picked a warmish September’s afternoon with a powerful light) and most of all we got along well, identifying a proper theme for this shoot: “classic elegance”. Stéphanie [Edinburgh, 2021]

After six months, I have picked up my camera again, halleluja! Stéphanie is a dear friend from France who lives in Edinburgh, working as a bookseller. I asked her whether I could take some portraits of her. At the beginning she was super reticent at the idea, as she felt that she was not the “most suitable” model however, after some persuasion and turning the shoot into a game, helped her to break the ice! She is a reliable, good natured, patient, helpful and “human” person who always has a reassuring effect on me! I really like her and was very excited to work with her. She has an artistic vein and I believe that in some pictures she could pass as a poet in total communion with nature, at the Botanics…

I have known Lisa and Margherita since they were little girls and it was a joy for me to take some portraits of them, back in March 2015. For being two sisters, they are different, not only in terms of age difference but also in their characters, but they do have points in common. They both love fashion and know what they want. I enjoyed spending one hour with them and their mum Mara!

Antonella [Firenze, 2015]

“Usually posing in front of the camera makes me shy, but while I was shooting with Elena, I was feeling very comfortable. We hadn’t met each other before but we immediately established a good connection”- Antonella

I remember two random facts about the afternoon of February 2015. I was in Florence to visit a friend : she had introduced me to her room mates, one of them being Antonella, and I had the camera with me. Chatting with Antonella, I asked if she would fancy a shoot and she agreed. I had no great expectations nor big plans in my mind, I just wanted to have some fun. The result was good : Antonella revealed she had acting skills, but was still spontaneous, and there was a relaxed, “good vibes feeling” during this session. Enjoy this memory!
