Boys in the summer [Parma, 2017]

Not having brothers of my own, I was never familiar with the world of young boys however, I was positively impressed when I went at Elena’s (a family friend) compound and had a full immersion in her world! Elena has 5 boys who, back in 2017, when these pictures were taken, were between 17 and 4 years old. I observed a few hours of their rough games “en plein air”, whilst we were having a chat and coffee and I reckon that it was very physical, it could be intense as the boys would bicker easily, but at the same time it was quicker, more immediate and less complicated than young girls play sessions! Enjoy these lovely photo memories! P.S. Some of their snapshots were featured on PhotoVogue, well done, boys!

Elisabetta [Marore, 2013]

Elisabetta and I, we have known each other since we were babies. She is one year younger than me and our families were neighbors, so we grew up in the same building and when we were little, we played together an awful lot (a few old memories pictures added at the end of this article can prove it)! Even tough, over the years, we did lose touch a little, I did not miss the opportunity to ask her if she wanted to pose for me and she accepted.

We met in Marore in a late July morning. It was warm and the light was not ideal as it was strong, direct and harsh however, we still got a glowy effect. I like these outcomes: Elisabetta’s portraits are neat, spontaneous, non-sophisticated and I find that her gaze reveals dignity and determination.

Below my favorite…

…but I cherish also this one!

and now a blast from the past! Photos taken between 1987 and 1989…

Angela & Mikaël [Paris, 2012]

I don’t really have a lot to say about this shoot, as I can sum it up in one sentence: I loved EVERY SINGLE THING OF IT! I loved them, their love, their passion for life, artistic side, the details at their flat, I loved Paris, the weather of that day, that summer season…There’s just one question I don’t have an answer to, when I look at their shots, will I also experience such passion? Enjoy this loving and lovely memory!

Laura & Filippo [Marore, 2011]

Simple gadgets can offer satisfying results without much of an effort. In fact, it can be difficult to think of anything simpler than balloons and soap bubbles! I am very proud of these photos, taken of my friends Laura & Filippo in August 2011!! Yet the simplicity that shines through is quite disarming! A field in Marore, one summer evening, soap bubbles, balloons, a poster with LOVE cut out (one I made earlier :-). You’ll think that I am crazy…Well this was fun and I take full responsibility for them!

a bit of a poser!!

and now let’s skip to the “serious” part of the shoot!

Uhm, did someone mention: Soap bubbles?!

and to finish, a very county-style shot!

Boys in the summer [San Prospero, 2011]

Elena is a family friend who has 5 gorgeous boys. In July 2011, she invited my parents and me to spend a few hours at their house in the outskirts of Parma. At that time she (only!) had 4 kids, however when we arrived, there were also young friends of her 2 eldest children. The boys were just…boys in the summer! Lots of lively water games and fun, some fresh drinks and a few tantrums from the youngest one. A most enjoyable afternoon with my camera!

The one below is my favorite, the editing makes me just think of the 1970s. Also, I like the way Emanuele is eying up the camera!

The best shot [Casalbaroncolo, 2011]

The best shot, from Casalbaroncolo’s session, is in my opinion this portrait of Margherita. I cherish it because…it is a fresh and pure moment of happiness, frozen in time by the camera. Margherita’s proverbial good character is echoed in the picture. Her laughter, even though you cannot hear her, is incredibly loud! This image passes on to me a feeling of wellbeing.
