Ludovica & Laura [Parma, 2024]

During the last week-end I took some portraits of my dear friend Laura and her beautiful toddler Ludovica in a field in Marore. As the light was intense, we shot in the shade. Having worked with the new Canon R6 Mark II a very few times (this was actually the 1st time I used it outdoors), I was not super confident and this was actually a test session for me. Anyway, I am impressed by the capabilities and potential of this mirrorless camera! I like these shots because they are candid, spontaneous and neat. A tenderness, a tranquillity and a sense of ‘discovery’ emerge from them. Ludovica is an independent, silent and keen observer and is very attached to her great momma!

Laura & the bump [Parma, 2022]

I have known Laura for 20 years. We met at University in 2002 as we chose the same department, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and became friends. Even after the end of our studies, we stayed in touch. So many things have happened in our lives over the past few years!

Now Laura is pregnant and we are excited about her baby coming in the summer! I could not be happier when she asked me to take some portraits of her and her bump. We had a quick photo session in Cittadella. The light was good and we played with the many shadows created in the trees and on the wall.

I cherish all the pictures that we took. Laura was glowing, spontaneous and expressive! In her eyes I could spot the happiness of a mum-to-be and a beautiful & typical contentment of an expectant mother!

Lola & Blandine [Edinburgh, 2018]

On a sunny June day I took some shots of little Lola. We started at Granton Beach, then we found as strategic second location a backyard in the neighborhood! Lola was so full of live, perfectly dressed up like a young lady of the early 20th century, and Bladine was so fond of her daughter and is such a creative soul! We had fun and possibly also this allowed us to get home with some beautiful photographic memories!

Agata & Angela [Marore, 2017]

Agata was 2 months old when I met her with her super momma Angela and granny. She was tiny but really present! With her little eyes she would brows around, trying to determine what kind of situation it was. Even though it was a late afternoon of early June, we did maximize the timing of the shooting as it was hot. We were lucky enough to take profit of a gorgeous summer light, fighting a bit to find some shadows. Enjoy this beautiful memory!

Alessia & Raffaella [Parma, 2014]

God could not be everywhere, therefore He made mothers ~ Jewish Proverb

I babysat Alessia and her brother Marco for 5 years. And when I first saw her, she was 5 years old. Once I remember holding her in my arms to a doctor’s visit. Time has passed but I kept in touch with her parents as we became friends. It was a pleasure for me to take some photos of her and her mum Raffaella one evening in September 2014. They had recently moved house and there was plenty of free space near their new home and this is where we met. I really fancy the black and white shots!

Adele, Cloe & Alice [Parma, 2014]

I have known these ladies for several years: they form a team and it always makes good to me to see them together! Alice has two amazing daughters. In July 2014, we met on a warm afternoon in Giardini di San Paolo to take some portraits to the girls, who were beautifully dressed. Our photo session was shortly interrupted by little Jack Russell Berto, who was proud to be the centre of attention for a few minutes, under the delighted eyes of Adele & Cloe.
