Laura & Filippo [Parma, 2025]

I hadn’t been taking pictures for 9 months. I believe I had a creative block. Or maybe I was just stuck, generally speaking, in my life. This situation, especially when prolonged, is usually considered as bad. However, the unraveling of this process, let me realise that the deepest growth is highly LIKELY TO HAPPEN during our pauses. We believe that we are stagnant and we well might feel that nothing is happening, whilst we are silently moving onwards instead.

As I wanted to put myself back into the game gently, I asked Laura and Filippo, two longtime friends (who are both super cute, they are high school sweethearts, and in case you wonder, Yes, we all were in the same high school in Parma!) to pose for me and they accepted. We found a quiet field in Marore to have an undisturbed photo-shooting and the weather was enviable: at 6:30 pm we got 28 degrees Celsius with low humidity, there was a pleasant breeze, and…the glowy golden hour light was just around the corner!

Before getting started, I was really nervous, and I asked myself: “Am I still able to do that?”, “What if these pictures will not be of good quality?” But then, ONCE we started and actually the more we were into it, it was flawless! Not only their session went as smooth as silk, but it was such GOOD FUN! I am delighted with the outcome of these shots because they are candid and effectively bring out traits of Laura and Philip’s personalities in a spontaneous way. Also, their bond and love is worthy of admiration!

Laura & Filippo [Parma, 2014]

In the past, I used to ask myself: “What do I do if it rains?!” (yikes, this was a moment of brief panic!). Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like rain and, even now, on rare occasions I will be shooting under a grim weather. However, the take-away from this post is that…rain doesn’t mean you cannot capture beautiful portraits! Sometimes an overcast sky will allow bright colors and tones to emerge, in the subjects and in their surrounding environment…You just have to push the creativity button!

Shooting Laura and Filippo is always a pleasure, they are high school sweethearts who are still in love one with an other. They have different personalities that blend well and manage to have fun together! Communication works perfectly between them, on all levels, and you can see this from their photos 🙂

Laura & Filippo [Marore, 2012]

When I imagine true love, Laura and Filippo are one of the couples that come to my mind. Going through my photo archive, I didn’t realized how many pictures I took of them, over the years. Maybe it’s because I like them both individually and it’s also good to have them together! We gathered a summer evening in a field just outside of Parma. About the rest…well, enjoy their pictures!

Beautiful Laura!

and a snappy memory together with the photographer!

Family shoot [Wissant, 2012]

I had the pleasure of taking some portraits of this family back in July 2012. We had the chance to meet up on a beach. The kids, Clara and Adam, were both photogenic. Clara was so outgoing, lively and a bit of a show-off while Adam was as sweet as any almost 1 year old could be! Enjoy this memory!

Her tv advert smile!!

I loved her pink dress

SO cute that it hurts!

Free and light like a butterfly

Angela & Mikaël [Paris, 2012]

I don’t really have a lot to say about this shoot, as I can sum it up in one sentence: I loved EVERY SINGLE THING OF IT! I loved them, their love, their passion for life, artistic side, the details at their flat, I loved Paris, the weather of that day, that summer season…There’s just one question I don’t have an answer to, when I look at their shots, will I also experience such passion? Enjoy this loving and lovely memory!

Laura & Filippo [Marore, 2011]

Simple gadgets can offer satisfying results without much of an effort. In fact, it can be difficult to think of anything simpler than balloons and soap bubbles! I am very proud of these photos, taken of my friends Laura & Filippo in August 2011!! Yet the simplicity that shines through is quite disarming! A field in Marore, one summer evening, soap bubbles, balloons, a poster with LOVE cut out (one I made earlier :-). You’ll think that I am crazy…Well this was fun and I take full responsibility for them!

a bit of a poser!!

and now let’s skip to the “serious” part of the shoot!

Uhm, did someone mention: Soap bubbles?!

and to finish, a very county-style shot!

The best shot [2011]

I don’t know, maybe it’s the way Ines is leaning on Silvia, as if she was there to protect her, or maybe it’s the fact that Silvia is closing her eyes but she is smiling at the same time, seizing this loving moment, completely trusting her grandmother…For these reasons this is my favorite shot of that day, taken at Elisa and Federico’s wedding reception. As spectators, we enjoy admiring beautiful pictures, but we also need to connect to people, and photography allows that! I am proud of this shot, that technically is far away from being perfect, but when I look at it, a good feeling warms me up. And this is also what photography is about.
