Breath of life, a powerful selfie [Parma, 2020]

This is a selfie. My friend Francesca, the mum (aka the bump), took it a few days ago in the afternoon, while she was resting with her older daughter Irene (the little hand).

This image, in my opinion, could be suitable for an exhibition; even although it was taken with a mobile in an unplanned moment; even although it is a selfie; even although it is maybe a bit too dark ; even although the quality is not that high. Nothing is missing there. Everything is highlighted and concentrated. There is love, silence, darkness, waiting, hope. Three lives and three hearts close to one another, beating together in such a small, confined space. Everything is captured in this little square mobile upload but the three of them seem ready to jump out of the frame.

I asked Francesca if I could post it on my Facebook page and I hope that this intimate shot will be seen by many, otherwise it would be wasted because it is just perfect. She was delighted for me to do this.

For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully

made; your works are wonderful,

I know that full well – Psalm 138 (139) : 13-14

The East Neuk of Fife, analog photography [2019]

Sheila and I, we had decided to have a daily trip on the coast. It was early March and it was cold in Edinburgh, which means that up north, it was even worst! Actually, it was flippin’ freezing and windy! This did not prevent us from arriving safely in St Andrews, enjoying a pleasant lunch, and then driving down the coast, taking advantage of beautiful old fishing villages such as Crail, Anstruither, Pittenweem and Leven. I am grateful to have had this opportunity, and the fact that we were able to admire a part of bonnie Scotland in one of its true elements (the bad weather!), is a plus! It as a good occasion to use my Nikon F801s.

Irene [Parma, 2018]

Irene was not yet four weeks old when Francesca, her mom and a good friend of mine, asked me to take some shots of her newborn princess in the little park near their house. What hits me about newborn babies is how fragile they are, how they completely depend on their parents or caregivers, even though I actually think they are resilient, strong and quite adaptable! As life is often uphill, I find it is a blessing to have the chance to experience a phase without any thoughts, based only on what we can feel, such as the loving touch and presence of our parents, and a deep sense of trust in them. This prepares us for the path of life ahead of us, and makes us courageous, like tiny & strong Irene!

Nathan [Borgo Val di Taro, 2015]

Nathan is the son of friends, he was only 60 days old when these picture were taken. He was incredibly expressive and was making grimaces as a real, little actor, showing off a determined character! I am not exactly a “newborn babies person type” and have very small experience of them but I was positively impressed by the fact that this small person already showed his own personality. I have rarely seen this kind of expression, that led me to imagine a curios and strong attitude more like an adult!

EAP Marketing campaign [Parma, 2014]

“If you want something done, do it yourself”…How many times have I heard this phrase in my life? Luckily for me, I have never lacked of good ideas, as well as the ability to ask for help in case of need, so in November 2014 I hired my neighbours, who are friends, to help me promote my photography business. The pictures below can prove our motivation…Hip hip hooray, teamwork!

Laura [Parma, 2014]

The time you spend with somebody you love and admire is never wasted. Laura and I are the same age, we met at high school, although we were not in the same class. Laura is a Doctor and loves her job, which is also a vocation, but she also has a strong artistic inclination. Can you believe that, during our teenage years, we were both part of the school’s drama group?! That was a lot of fun!

That morning of September 2014, I went to her house, we had coffee, chatted and went out in the park close by, where we took these pictures. The purpose was not to make some serious photography, rather to entertain each other and I hope that, as of today, she can confirm to you it was fun for her also! I love these images as she is spontaneous, being her lovely self and guys, have you noticed her mesmerizing deep-blue eyes😍?! This old memory is a form of joy and inspiration for me, and a form of life too. Enjoy!
