Matteo & Ludovica [Parma, 2024]

When I think my life is busy these days, I forget to imagine what it would be like if I had a child! Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking some shots of Ludovica’s kiddo, who is a bright, cheeky and wonderful, little “earthquake”. He definitively had a blast in his natural environment, the garden, under the protective eyes of his momma! It seemed to me that he would never run out of his energy 🙂 The time flew by in a pleasant way: it was great to see the strong bond between the little one and his super momma and it was almost sad for me, at the end of the afternoon, to carry back to my car the photo equipment! Enjoy these shots!

Ana & Ricardo’s family [Edinburgh, 2021]

Ricardo was my colleague for a few years but this was only the second time I was meeting his young family and it was in occasion of a photo-shoot agreed a while before.

Ricky is one of the most outspoken persons I have ever met and worked with. He has a huge internal energy and is always in the action field! His wife Ana is a superstar: she is really forward!! She is also outgoing, friendly and welcoming. Adriana is incredibly polite, respectful and mature for her age (she is also beautiful!) whilst Africa has a super quick, lively. sparkling personality: she is a mini-actress with amazingly well developed facial expressions!

We spent an hour in Holyrood park assisting to the girls leaves-battle (it was freezing!) surrounded by extremely sociable swans (the first swans able to love children or, if not so, they were bearing with them in a very patient way!) and later on we headed to their house to have lunch together and take some indoors shots. It was short but intense…I hope to catch up with them again soon!

Sarah & Andrew’s family [Glasgow, 2021]

Over the past few years I have had the pleasure of spending some time with Sarah, Andrew and Eva but last October it was the first time that I was introduced to the new family addiction…little Eoin! What can I say about this half day of chat & lively discourse in their gorgeous, cosy retreat? Eva is a 100% sociable, she enjoys interacting with adults and for sure is…”not so-tiny-any-longer”!! She shares almost all of her toys with her little brother. Eoin is charming just being himself: he is in love with mom and dad and, as a shy little boy, he is really good natured, inquisitive, silent, quick in his moves and…Oh yes!, he has the biggest, deepest blue eyes I have ever seen!!

Francesca & Massimo’s family [Parma, 2021]

“Bonds of family and love can withstand any storm and then life, even with its trials, can still be a beautiful and meaningful journey” – Jyoti Patel

In September 2021 I had the pleasure to take some family portraits of Francesca with her husband Massimo, and their beautiful kids duo, Irene and Mattia. We met in Parco Ferrari and the children were in a good mood. Irene displayed an outgoing personality and Mattia was easily carried away by his big sister’s excitement! I managed to take a short video, that I find to be a precious visual memory of a lovely, LIVELY time spent together! Thank you Francesca & Massimo for trusting my photographic capabilities!

Emi & Ami [Parma, 2020]

I have known these little ones for a while. I met Tomomi (their lovely mum) in 2015 and took pictures to Ami. Then Emi joined the family’s crew one year later: the first time I saw her, she was only 6 days old! Tomomi and I stayed in touch and we currently enjoy meeting up for a photo- shoot 2 or 3 times a year.

On this occasion, my ambitious idea & hope was to take a couple of professional, smart portraits that might eventually bring me some recognition. But Ami and Emi’s view point was slightly different…they wanted to have fun and play around! Actually they were both excited to join us in the studio and to be the shoot’s stars. Ami, the little one, was the leader of the show and is a natural poser!! I quickly realised that, more or less, I was at their mercy.

I believe that at the end of our shoot our expectations matched. I am quite hard on the quality of my work but I really think that some of their pictures are beautiful and these little sisters are themselves and are behaving in a spontaneous way. It was brilliant to watch them playing around and being so lively.

Enjoy!

Irene [Parma, 2020]

These pictures look like regular shots to me. I had known Francesca for a while so we met in the afternoon at the park to get some shots of her daughter Irene, who was now 18 months old and has grown up a lot in the last 6 months. She was currently deep into the “discovering” fase, running everywhere and is also starting to interact with people and to communicate in her own ways. She was intelligent, quick, and could be reasonably a bit stubborn! But her smile just melted our hearts! It was quite late when we started shooting so not so many photos taken. But from these I think you can see how expressive she was, with her enthusiasm and her lively nature. Enjoy these memories of early 2020!

Leonardo & Mattia [Parma, 2019]

I remember clearly the morning when I met Elisa for a coffee at Cappelli and she told me that she was expecting for the second time. There was also Mattia with us, her eldest son. On this occasion I saw a beautiful sparkle in Elisa’s eyes, she was radiant! Little Leonardo (Leo!) was in a hurry so he was born a month early, but this did not create a flaw, as he was just perfect and very much loved by his parents and a proud big brother!

I was delighted to have Elisa and the kids in the studio for a quick Welcome session to little Leo, who was, more or less, cooperative! Enjoy these beautiful memories!

“If we wandered around this world with the typical carelessness of a child who falls asleep in the middle of a crowd, this society would not even be able to worry us: no more than it would be able to affect the long and deep breathing of the child who is sleeping”- Christian Bobin

Zoe & Zeno [Parma, 2019]

It is always great to have clients return for yet another shoot. I photographed several times Caterina & her beautiful duo over the years. This time they came to the studio where we used indoor lighting and a white backdrop to capture the beauty of her family. Not everyone was too keen on the shoot initially, but as we continued, they were won over and the fun started! Thank you lovely Olivieri fam for your continual support. May we keep on doing this for many years to come. I am looking forward to our next time together!

Dario & Pietro [Parma, 2018]

Carlotta was one of the first people I spoke to in our first year at university (back in 2002!)! We were in line to attend a course presentation and we just started to chat and we eventually became friends. Later on, we did the Erasmus year together, which was a milestone for our lives! Although we made different life choices, we kept in touch throughout the years.

It made good to see her realise her big dream, that of a family. Now Carlotta is the undisputed “queen” of her three boys, her husband and her kids. It made me real proud to be called on as a photographer to take some shots of her lively treasures! Pietro’s cuteness and his cheerfulness were an hymn to life, whilst Dario was the brother that everybody would have wanted to have, as being responsible, careful, affectionate and extreeemely patient!! Enjoy these lovely memories dated September 2018!

I admire photographers who empower their subjects, I just can’t. When I try to direct people while shooting, I realise that there is always something which I can not control. When I focused mainly on children’s portraiture, this became even more unpredictable. I basically follow the kids natural instincts and then usually obtain some good results!

Mattia [Parma, 2018]

“From his first steps to his biggest leaps, I’ll always be cheering him on” – Sirisha Sattoor

There is nothing like a follow-up shoot to apply the pressure on me to excel as a photographer. I had taken photos of Mattia already, in 2017 and in 2018. Now, on this occasion, he was 4 years and a half. I wasn’t really nervous about this one as Elisa, Mattia’s mum, she is one of my besties as when I am with her I get relaxed, however, this time I wanted to perform to get the same kind of result of 2017. Or better. Honestly, I couldn’t be more proud of this portraits serie. I find poignant and touching the purity and strength of the love between Mattia and his mum! Enjoy this loving, lovely photo memory!!

Bree [Edinburgh, 2018]

Bree was about 10 years old when I took some shots of her, back in the summer 2018. She came with her parents, we met at Lauriston Castle, which always proves to be an outstanding location! I believe that Bree not only had gorgeous skin and hair tones with beautiful eyes, but she was also very much expressive and she had something unique. It felt like she was a protagonist of a fairy tale, there was something magical about her. I also reckon that the colors in the park and of the nature at Lauriston were equally striking… I wish all the best to Bree’s family, and little Bree-girl, do not forget that you are very much cherished, and that your momma loves you to pieces!

Fiona [Edinburgh, 2018]

Whilst sipping my cup of coffee in the kitchen, this morning I thought about the wonderful people I have met and photographed over the last 16 years. There is something about the connection one can develop with his clients during the limited time of a photo session that seems to overpower the small talk one would expect from such a shoot. Perhaps it has to do with the fact of feeling comfortable enough to show your soul to someone for a moment and walk away less bound by the world. Or maybe it is just about showing and sharing moments with those who are the most precious to you. Back in the summer 2018, I had the chance to observe beautiful Fiona while playing and interacting with her parents and also to admire their deep bond. This family really holds a very special place in my heart and I am thankful that they really could express themselves freely in front of my camera!

Fyfe family [Lochgilphead, Argyll and Bute, 2018]

Ella, Milly & Pippa are the Fyfe sisters. I had the pleasure to meet them with their parents, Lynsey and Ross, in May 2018. They are friends of friends and we spent a couple of hours together at their place. I was touched by their warm welcome and to observe the mutual love and deep respect that the members of this lovely family had one for another. The girls were simply great, the 2 oldest were really sociable and pleasantly lively. I am delighted by the outcome of this session that and warmed my heart and was uncomplicated! Thank you Lynsey & Ross and for trusting my photographic skills!
